Two call centers businesses based in Central Ohio are hiring for work-from-home positions to help clients including utilities, heating and cooling repair and retailers slammed with online orders as physical stores close.
Both business are transitioning to new demands from clients, or different types of clients, and say they can help those who have lost jobs from mass business closures resulting from efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“If I could hire 150 people right now, I could put them to work right now, at home,” said Trevor Friesen, CEO of Hilliard-based ContactUs Communications, which has call centers in three states.
Startup Fortuity Calling, which went live a few months ago with three clients, is nearing 20 employees and has the equipment to triple, co-founder and CEO Fred Brothers said. The entire staff of its Franklinton call center was set up to work from home a week ago.
“If we can put more people to work who have gotten displaced in this, … we want to,” Brothers said.
