Social enterprise call center's new look aims to kick off wave of west Franklinton development

A social enterprise call center is using its freshly renovated headquarters to make a statement on West Broad Street.

Fortuity Calling LLC plans to open in October, a year later than planned. Renovation is nearly complete on the Franklinton medical office building, a $13 million project.

A geometric paint job in blue and brick red on the building's exterior started this week. That new look, combined with a fenced greenspace replacing a rubble-strewn asphalt lot this fall, speak to what the business hopes to do for west Franklinton, its leaders say.

"We think we anchor the redevelopment west of (Route) 315," said Fred Brothers, co-founder and CEO of Fortuity and Uprising Capital LLC, which provides funding to nonprofits and social enterprise. "We'll be the first visible, tangible development."
